Instantly, Your Blog is a Free Podcast!
Now you can benefit even more from all the written posts and articles you have uploaded to the Internet. Odiogo is a FREE service that turns your text into high fidelity audio files that are ready for download and play on any device.
Plugin and Widget Ready Blogs
Your blog now becomes an RSS feed when you install the WordPress plugin or widget for specific formats on your blog. This was so easy and fast it actually took me longer to read the instructions than perform the tasks.
First you signup for the Odiogo service. You will be asked to provide your blog feed to them, so make sure you have that information ready. For example, WordPress RSS feeds are www.yourdomain.com/feed.
Now go and check your eMail inbox. Odiogo has sent you important information about your new account, including your Odiogo Feed Id. You’ll need this id to setup your blog plugin or widget.
Next, you’ll download the plugin or widget for your blog and follow the instructions in your email. Once installed and activated, an audio button will appear at the top of each blog post, letting people know they can listen to your post instead of read it!
My WordPress blog plugin automatically added a widget to my widget admin page so I could add it to my sidebar. Once added, visitors to the site can subscribe to your audio feed. In addition, Odiogo gives you a control page you can send people to – here’s mine: Odiogo Control Page
Your Blog On Steroids
Here’s the best part – upload the audio feed to free podcasting sites and get lots of backlinks to your blog. This will increase your blog popularity and the search engines will be happy to move you up in the SERPs. Wouldn’t you like to be on the first 10 pages of Google?
Again…you can use a FREE tool with a built-in podcast directory to upload your audio feed to over 60 sites. Most of these sites do not require registration – just upload your feed once and that’s it. Each time you write a new blog post, your audio feed is automatically updated, ready for the podcast sites to pickup.
Go to PodPusher, follow the directions on the home page for your audio feed and start submitting. PodPusher will access each podcast site and wait for you to enter the required information. Some of the sites require you to register, but you can bypass these if you want.
Unfortunately, PodPusher will not submit the information for you – it does require interaction by you. The instructions say it will take around 20 minutes, but I found it takes more like an hour – depending on how fast or slow each site is responding.
What to Expect
Well – I can’t guarantee your audio will generate a LOT of traffic to your website, but it will generate some. The real benefit are the backlinks that are created by uploading your audio feed to the podcasting sites.
Could you generate over 60 backlinks so quickly any other way? he he
