These giveaway events take place throughout the year and have allowed many top Internet marketers build a list of prospects very quickly. Once you have these people on your list, you have a chance to build trust by showing your expertise in marketing, your technical skills, your list building skills, etc. Once you have started marketing to these new optins, you will naturally whittle the list down to those who want what you have to offer.

Don’t expect too much from these new prospects on your list. Know that your job is to get the people OFF your list who are just freebie seekers and you won’t be disappointed when you see them unsubscribe. After all, most of these new subscribers NEED the products that are offered, but may not necessarily know what to do with them. Take the time to educate them and those who are serious about being on the Internet will stay on your list.

When I first came to the Internet to build a business, this is exactly what I did! At that time, I received an eMail from someone about the “12 Days of Christmas” giveaway event from Mark Hendricks. By downloading as many products as I could, I was able to find “mentors” to follow and learn what making money on the Internet was about. I certainly didn’t stay subscribed to everyone’s list…instead, I unsubscribed from those that did not provide any value to me. And that’s exactly what you should expect your subscribers to do.

Understand this – if you only retain 10% of the new subscribers on your list, you still have a chance that those may be the very people you need to start building your business.
